If we were to believe this Goldman Sachs report, since 1985 400 million Indians have managed to leverage themselves above the poverty line, making more than $5 per day. Maybe $5 counts nothing in the US, but desi guys will tell you Rs. 250 weighs quite a bit in the land of Poha and Chai.
However, 880 million still survive with less than $2 per day.
But lets hope for the very best. Good times ahead.
